Important Program Announcement
Effective July 1st, 2009, the current EMCSA (Storage Administrator), EMCTA (Technology Architect) and EMCIE (Implementation Engineer) Backup and Recovery specialties are renamed ‘Backup and Recovery – NetWorker’.
The updated Specialty name more accurately reflects the fact that this certification is centered around EMC NetWorker and the ability to integrate related technologies in NetWorker-specific environments.
There is no change to the prescribed list of training courses, exam content, or exam numbers. However, please note that the associated exam names will be updated to:
- E20-590 Backup and Recovery - NetWorker Specialist Exam for Technology Architects
- E20-593 Backup and Recovery - NetWorker Implementation Exam
- E20-597 Backup and Recovery - NetWorker Specialist Exam for Storage Administrators

Important Exam Information
Scheduling
Before scheduling an EMC Proven Professional exam, be sure to review the most current exam description. In addition, please read the EMC Proven Professional program Candidate Agreement found on the EMC website prior to scheduling an exam appointment. You will be required to accept this Candidate Agreement at the beginning of your exam.
Appointments may be made in advance or on the day you wish to test, subject to availability. Pearson VUE offers a variety of scheduling options—
Exam Retake Policy (for all EMC exams)
If you do not pass an exam on your first attempt, you may retake the exam at any time. If you do not pass an exam on your second attempt, then you must wait at least 2 weeks (14 days) between each additional attempt. If you need to retake an exam that you have already passed in order to fulfill a certification track requirement, you may do so after 3 months.
