Important Exam Information

Associate Level

The Storage Technology Foundations (STF) exam (E20-001) has a NEW name: Storage Technology Foundations (Information Storage and Management) exam.

In our effort to continuously improve the Storage Technologist curriculum, we review emerging areas of technology that are becoming increasingly important to storage professionals. Since October, 2007 we have added security, virtualization and deduplication to expand the breadth of the Storage Technology Foundations course. As a consequence, we are changing the title of the course and exam to “Information Storage and Management” to fully represent the value of the course and the EMC Proven Professional Associate level certification.

The exam content has not changed and continues to be the preferred exam to achieve Associate level Certification not only for Storage Technologist track but also for Technology Architect, Implementation Engineer, Customer Engineer, and Storage Administrator tracks.

If you have already passed the EMC Technology Foundations exam (E20-040) you do not need to pass the Storage Technology Foundation (Information Storage and Management) exam to pursue Specialist level certification in the Technology Architect, Implementation Engineer, Customer Engineer, or Storage Administrator tracks.

The EMC Technology Foundations – CLARiiON exam (E20-050) is the qualifying Associate exam for CLARiiON Specialties only.

The EMC Backup and Recovery Foundations exam (E20-097) is the qualifying exam for Associate level certification in Backup and Recovery specialties only. Storage Technology Foundations and EMC Technology Foundations are also acceptable for progression in the Backup and Recovery specialties.
