International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners®

IBLCE® Certification

The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) is the global authority that determines the knowledge of practitioners in lactation and breastfeeding care. International Board Certified Lactation Consultants® are essential members of the maternal-child health team who protect, promote and support breastfeeding to benefit women, children and families worldwide. The IBCLC® credential is the premier and only certification for lactation consultants.

As an International Organisation, in 2013 IBLCE began using British English (UK) in its publications.

In the December 2012  IBLCE e-Newsletter, IBLCE announced the following:

One English
There are relatively few substantive differences between British English and American English. IBLCE is transitioning to British English in its publications as British English is the most common form of English used worldwide. Therefore, commencing with the 2013 examination the spelling used will be British English and where terms differ between the two forms of English, the British will be noted first with American English noted second, e.g. nappy (diaper).

Also note that, the IBLCE exam includes both US and Metric Weights and Measures.
