New York State Teacher Certification Examinations™ (NYSTCE®) Computer-Based Testing (CBT)

The New York State Teacher Certification Examinations™ (NYSTCE®) address New York Education Law and Commissioner’s Regulations, which require prospective New York State educators to pass designated tests as a requirement for receiving state certification.

    • School Building Leader – Parts 1 and 2
    • School District Leader – Parts 1 and 2
    • School District Business Leader – Parts 1 and 2

Test Registration & Scheduling Information

Registration

You must complete test registration through the NYSTCE website and receive your Authorization to Test to be able to schedule a test.

Scheduling

You may schedule your test online 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. First-time test takers must create a Pearson VUE web account. When creating your account and scheduling your test, be sure to have your Authorization to Test available because you will be asked to provide information from this document.

After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation email listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.

Tutorial Preview

Before beginning the test, you will be given an on-screen tutorial that will show you how to navigate through the test, how to indicate your answers, and how to use the features of the computer-based test. A tutorial preview is available to help candidates prepare for the computer-based testing experience.
